Well I am happy to report that Ava is continuing to progress beautifully. We had a follow up with the ENT specialist on Friday, a follow up with the opthamologist this morning, and a weight and blood check this afternoon with the pediatrician, and got great reports from all three!
ENT (Ear Nose Throat) report: Ear tubes are intact and working. She healed up nicely from her tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy. Her hearing test, which was 50 on the first visit (Should be 10-15) was 30 on the follow-up post ear tube checkup. This is obviously better than before, but they want to do a ABR test, which basically is a test where she will be sedated (not under anesthesia, but just asleep). They will be able to measure her brain's response to sound waves, apparently this is a much more accurate hearing test on kids who don't necessarily respond physically, by turning their head or raising their hands, to sound. That is scheduled for May 7 (at nap time of course).
Opthamologist report: Eyes are healing nicely (They'd better be healing nicely at $97 for a 3.5g tube of eye ointment!!!!). Her eyes appear to be perfectly aligned, and the doctor sees no reason why she should need another surgery. (He had told me previously that about 20 % of the time they will need to go back and "fine tune" the muscle alignment). We'll have a follow-up in three months just to make sure.
Pediatrician: Ava weighs 23lb 14 oz now (and that was on an empty stomach and with a dry diaper) :) She had been previously very anemic, we have been giving her iron supplements. She is now at a low-normal. We'll reduce the iron from 3 times a day to only once a day, and recheck in a month.
Occupational and Physical Therapy: I'll let you see for yourself. I am getting ready to post a video. :)
