Last night some friends and I attended a fundraising dinner for MEND Crisis Pregnancy ministry.
The theme was "Prom Night 1985". I want to say it is SO much more fun going to prom with just the girls (Sorry Lance) and it's way more fun to get ready when the goal is to look goofy.
My friend Melissa knows a lady who used to make prom and bridal dresses in the 80's. She let us look through her storage shed and borrow a couple of them. How do we look? :)
It was a night of great food, entertainment and 80's music, but the best part was that a wonderful ministry was supported, and funds were raised to help ladies of all ages who find themselves in crisis pregnancies. I was so blessed to learn that 91% of women who contact this ministry for help end up choosing LIFE. Praise God for the volunteers who support MEND. Thanks Cherish for allwing me to be a part of it.

Hey!! I think that my SIL wore that red dress to prom with my brother in 1986!!! Except maybe her sleeve were a tad bit more poofy!
I wore a white prom dress in 85 that looked just like your black one!! lol My best friend wore a pink one with black pokka dots, it was way better than mine!
You guys look great! What a great ministry!
This was a wonderful thing to support. My 1st daughter was born when I was 17. I was so scared and did not know what to do. I visited a crisis pregnancy center and they gave me the strength to keep my baby. The placed a little plastic baby in my hands (I was only 10 weeks or so) and for the first time I saw it as a living little being. It made a difference and I was always grateful. they were the only ones that did not look at with with shame. I never forgot that.
gotta love the 80's! I had a dress just like the red one but it was white with red accents......oh boy...those were the days!!

You're tempting me to post REAL pictures of your prom...1989.
I like your hair-do. I remember seeing that just about a gazillion times.
I wonder what our kids will regret regarding their current fashion choices in 20 years?
What a great fundraiser idea!
This looks like you had so much fun. We need to get together.
Very Fun! I love your daughter's blog. PRECIOUS entry about the van. Too sweet!
Charissa - I looked at the title at first and thought, "Awww, prom night pics!", and then I said, "How is she 17 and in the same neighborhood as they live now?"....it takes me a minute some days :o) Hey, I wanted to direct you to a blog that I thought you'd enjoy...www.audreycaroline.blogspot.com - it is so uplifting and inspiring. The way this gal sees things reminds me of you in many ways! Have a great rest of the weekend!
Hugs,
Michelle
Too fun. Prom was stressful because you had to look "perfect". How fun to dress up and intentionally not care. What a great theme. Great cause. Thanks for sharing.
Love the ruffles!
Move on here folks, nothing here to see but a few old dresses from the Goodwill Store,...Dan Rather, CBS
SO fun!!
My hair wasn't as big as I thought it looked! My girls wanted me to wear my dress to church today. Thanks for dressing up w/ me!
